Ann Witters was born and grew up in Lommel, Belgium. She has lived for many years in Antwerp and also in London (UK). Currently she is living in Pelt, close to her home town. She studied photography (BA) at Karel de Grote Hogeschool, Antwerp and painting  at the academy of Berchem, Mol & Noord-Limburg. She also attended many classes in collage, painting and creative sculpture at The Mary Ward Centre and Morley College in London.
Artists who inspired her mostly are Kurt Schwitters, Robert Rauschenberg, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Willem De Kooning, Lee Krasner, Duane Michaels, Wolfgang Tillmans, Gerhard Richter, Daniel Spourri, Cy Twombly, Claude Verlinde, etc...
In her collages and scuptures, Ann combines painting & drawing with found objects, text, fabric and pictures from newspapers, magazines & books.
Her paintings are mostly abstract and colourful, containing a few figurative elements while her photographs show interesting details of the world
